About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Cicada Health Intelligence. They cover our two product lines — Cicada Sense, for families and caregivers, and Cicada Ethos, our health-data marketplace — along with our website and applications. Some products have additional terms presented inside them; where those conflict with these, the product-specific terms control for that product.

Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use our services. When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been used without your permission.

Using the services

We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use our services for their intended purpose. In return, you agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe anyone’s rights.
• Attempt to access data or accounts that are not yours, or to re-identify de-identified data.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the platform or its security.
• Upload data you do not have the right to share, or misrepresent who you are.

Your data & consent

You own the health data you contribute. By connecting a source and approving a study or feature, you grant Cicada permission to process and share that data as described in our Privacy Policy and in the consent you give at the time. You can change or withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal stops future sharing but does not undo uses that already took place with your permission. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Rewards & payments

Where a Cicada Ethos study offers rewards, the terms — including amounts and conditions — are shown before you join. Rewards are earned by meeting a study’s stated requirements. We may adjust or withhold rewards where participation does not meet those requirements or where we detect fraud or abuse.

Not medical advice

Cicada’s products provide information and tools to help you understand and share health data. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified provider about your health, and do not disregard professional advice because of something you saw in our services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Intellectual property

The Cicada platform, including its software, design, and content, is owned by Cicada and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you beyond the limited right to use the services. You keep ownership of the data and content you provide.

Disclaimers & liability

Our services are provided “as is” and “as available.” While we work hard to keep them reliable and secure, we do not guarantee they will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cicada is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the services.

Termination

You may stop using our services and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you violate these terms or use the services in a way that risks harm to others or to the platform. When an account ends, we handle any remaining data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our products evolve. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you inside the product. If you continue to use the services after an update, you accept the revised terms.
